Chaotic evacuations during emergency evacuations are often the cause of more deaths than the crisis requiring the evacuation itself. Our building evacuation study analyses the most effective routes of egress in the event of a fire or any other emergency that is a threat to life.
Using simulations, we create an occupant evacuation model that factors in a threat assessment of all points of origin of the fire and all the potential blockage points during the evacuation. We analyse the egress system and identify target spaces in the evacuation. The occupant evacuation model simulates evacuation in static and the dynamic blocking situations and records occupation changes at every section during egress. With this analysis, we can estimate the time required to evacuate the building and modify the exit path to achieve desired evacuation time.
